Please email us at tattoos@vanityrites.com or text 203.232.4782
if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Please refrain from drug/alcohol use before your appointment. Not only can we not tattoo an individual that is under any influence but it also thins the blood making the procedure arduous.
Personal hygiene is key, come in clean and no perfumes as that is irritating to everyone in closed spaces.
Get a good night sleep the night before and come to your appointment satiated. Bring a beverage and in some cases if the session is a longer one, bring a snack.
Do not move during your session. You may think using your hand to check your phone or itch a scratch or adjust something is no movement at all, however when you're getting tattooed sometimes talking and even breathing is a movement we need to coalesce with. So please, stay still but… don't hold your breath!
Give us a call : 860.620.9227. We'll get you in for a consultation. During the consult we'll discuss in detail what you're looking for from style to content, placement and color options. We'll make your appointment for your tattoo then and we require a 50$ non refundable/non transferable deposit. It goes to the cost of your tattoo, however if you don't show up for your appointment and don't let us know or cancel the day or moment of your appointment you forfeit your deposit and we start the process over again.
The tattoo process can not be rushed. An average, slightly detailed piece about 3" round typically takes about 2 – 3 hours. Larger or more complex pieces take longer. Still others may require several sittings to complete. Not only does it depend on the piece, but it also depends on the individual getting the tattoo – their pain tolerance or how well you sit. The more one moves around, the longer it takes. So sit still.
The cost of a tattoo depends on the size and detail. We never give quotes. We give estimates. Too many factors go in to pricing a piece – size, detail, how well one sits, and, of course, your tattoo artist's experience. There are also shop minimums that encompass typically simple, small (no more than an inch) and little to no detail.
Visit the studio, talk to the artists, get a general feel for them. Look at their work. Does it appeal to you? How are you treated? Are you heard? Getting a tattoo is an extremely personal experience, in this way, you should feel comfortable and safe with them and their studio.
Our job is to help navigate you through that gravity. Come with ideas and we can elaborate on them for you. We'll work with you to get the layout you're looking for. Even if you don't know what you're looking for. You'll know it when you see it!
Also, be patient. Your artist has many drawings to get through and can't always respond immediately. Give us some time.
The law dictates no one under the age of 18 can get a tattoo without the presence and approval of a parent or legal guardian (with proper i.d.). You can come in, consult, talk with us. But to do the tattoo, we need approval.
Your artist will not only give you a written aftercare sheet that explains in detail what you need to do, but will also verbally review your aftercare so that you can have your questions answered.
Our aftercare was compiled from years of experience, conferring with other tattoo artists, general physicians as well as dermatologists.
Please don't stop medications just to get your tattoo. Let your artist know the situation, don't worry, at our studio your information is private. When we know what we're working with it makes the process that much easier.
Please be considerate and let your artist know you'll be there a little late. If scheduling permits that should be fine. However, if there is an appointment after you, we subscribe to the 15 minute rule. If you're more than 15 minutes late that impacts those after you and we'll need to reschedule. If you don't let us know at all you forfeit your deposit and we start the process over again.
Our email links are on the home page. Scroll down past the bios. Also, we'll probably give you our social media handle or cell phone. You can get us directly that way.
Please keep in mind if you're given our cell phones, be polite and refrain from contacting us later in the evening or too early in the morning. We need rest too.
